Louise Townsend

Louise has been working as a theatre professional for sixteen years as a director, casting director, company manager and stage manager. Most recently she has been directing youth and community theatre projects. These have included: The Crucible, Sister Josephine Kicks the Habit, Animal Farm and Beauty and the Beast. She has also been Assistant Director for Canterbury Tales (Oundle Summer Theatre) and is a regular Youth Theatre workshop leader for participants of all ages.

As a freelance casting director she cast Return to the Forbidden Planet (No. 1 National tour), Blue on Blue and 376 (Haymarket Theatre, Basingstoke), Voices and Black Diamonds (Quondam Theatre Company), Sister Josephine Kicks the Habit (TAMAR Scarboro’/Helmsley Arts Centre). For Pippa Ailion Casting she worked as casting director and assistant on over fifty projects. Projects included the chorus for the film De Lovely and West End shows Lion King, We Will Rock You, All You Need Is Love, Simply Heavenly, Song of Singapore, Aida. Number one tours included Beauty and the Beast and Five Guys Named Moe. Overseas musicals included Lion King and Cats and commercials and videos included a Marty Pellow video with director Kevin Godley.

As a stage manager Louise worked in major repertory theatres that included Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre, the New Vic Stoke and Worcester’s Swan Theatre. She was Company Manager with Rent for its run in Dublin.
